About the Role
We are looking for a mid-level API Developer to join a large financial services organization on a contract basis, supporting a portal consolidation initiative. This project is replacing several legacy portals with a single, modern access management platform, and your work will be central to making that happen.
The focus of this role is API development and integration - migrating functionality from legacy systems, modernizing user and administrator experiences, and enabling API-driven IAM workflows. You will collaborate closely with IAM engineers, application teams, and stakeholders across brands and regions throughout a phased global rollout.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate front-end portal components with IAM APIs to support real-time identity creation and provisioning
- Deploy and configure APIs on gateways and developer portals
- Perform data transformation and integration across middleware layers, orchestration engines, and IAM platforms
- Troubleshoot and resolve API issues using simulators, log analysis, and other diagnostic tools
- Partner with IAM engineers, application teams, and cross-functional stakeholders across multiple brands and geographies
- Support phased global rollout activities, including coordination across multiple time zones
- Contribute to SDLC processes and participate in automated deployment pipelines
Required Qualifications
- 3-6 years of experience in API development and integration
- Solid understanding of REST principles and API management best practices
- Experience deploying and managing APIs on API gateways and developer portals
- Familiarity with provisioning interfaces such as SCIM and LDAP
- Comfort working across multiple cloud environments (AWS, Azure, SaaS platforms)
- Experience testing APIs using tools such as Postman, cURL, or similar
- Working knowledge of SDLC practices and automated deployment processes
- Ability to work effectively with globally distributed teams and manage deliverables across time zones
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with enterprise IAM platforms such as IBM Security Verify, Ping Identity, or similar
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines
- Prior exposure to IAM data models
- Familiarity with IAM concepts including identity lifecycle management, provisioning, and access requests
- Experience with Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools
- Understanding of secrets management practices including vaulting, rotation, and secure key access
Contractor Requirements
- Must be based in the United States and authorized to work without sponsorship
- Must be able to pass a background check, including financial background screening
- Corp-to-Corp (C2C) or W2 engagements considered; no third-party C2C without prior approval
